SQL 2012 support, visual filter and increased performance – Sneak Peek – ApexSQL Log 2011

ApexSQL, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and leading provider of Microsoft SQL Server solutions is proud to announce ApexSQL Log 2011. This new version includes support for SQL Server Denali and brings improved performance, visual filtering, interface improvements and much more.

Here’s a preview of what’s coming in the new release:

  1. Support for SQL Server Denali CTP1

Other improvements:

  1. Improved scalability when reading from very large transaction log files
  2. Improved support for SQL 2005 SP1, SQL 2008 and SQL 2008 R2.
  3. Support for operations done in BULK INSERT
  4. User-friendly dialogs

Let’s take a quick look at these new features:

Support for SQL Server Denali CTP1
ApexSQL Log 2011 will support analysis of SQL Server Denali CTP1 transaction logs

Increased performance
ApexSQL Log 2011 will provide significant performance increases

Visual row filter
Auditing results will be filtered visually, allowing you to quickly identify the results that are particularly interesting to you

Improved scalability when reading from very large transaction log files
The release will support analysis of very large transaction log files

Improved support for SQL 2005 SP1, SQL 2008 and SQL 2008 R2
ApexSQL Log 2011 R2 will fully support auditing of the following types of rows:

  • Rows from tables with row compression enabled (tables with DATA_COMPRESSION option set to ROW)
  • Rows from tables with page compression enabled (tables with DATA_COMPRESSION option set to PAGE)
  • Rows with seamless UNICODE compression in NCHAR and NVARCHAR (except MAX) fields. Seamless UNICODE compression was introduced in SQL Server 2008 R2.
  • Rows from tables with sparse columns.
  • Rows from tables with enabled vardecimal storage format.

Support for operations done in BULK INSERT
ApexSQL Log will be able to audit operation done in BULK INSERT, such as SELECT INTO

User-friendly dialogs
Key dialogs will be redesigned to provide additional information and increase usability

These features will be spread out across two subsequent ApexSQL Log 2011 releases planned for the third and fourth quarter of 2011.
