Steamroller team update: ApexSQL Log and ApexSQL Manage

What have you been working on?

We have been working on a new version of our product ApexSQL Log.

What is the ETA to production?

The product is currently in test phase. The release is planned for a first half of August.

What have been some design and technical challenges you have encountered, overcome?

The old script editor limited to 3MB per file was replaced with new Large File Editor, allowing execution and maintenance of large SQL script files, couple of gigabytes in size.

Old server side components with extended stored procedures are replaced with new server side components without XP’s but as standalone Windows service as a SQL Server data access provider.

What are some features planned in the next release(s) and what are their ETAs?

Here are some of the new features planned for the next releases:

ApexSQL Log:

  • New server side components, without Extended stored procedures
  • Before/After reporting, new type of data filtering and export
  • Export to database as a new export type

  • Continuous auditing, now you can continue auditing from where you stopped last time, automatically and seamlessly
  • Charts and graphical goodies representing auditing statistics

  • Large file editor, edit and execute very large files

For the next ApexSQL Manage 2015 R3 release we are planning to support several additional features:
