ApexSQL tools auto-updater notifies you of updates and allows you to automatically update your software to the new version. The auto-updater that came with older ApexSQL software versions will not warn you that an upgrade corresponds to a MAJOR version (free only if your Software Assurance has not expired). The latest auto-updater will prompt you with below message:
When you see this message, please check your Software Assurance status first before upgrading by going to our Upgrade Center or contacting Sales
If you’re not under Software Assurance and inadvertently upgrade
Please downgrade to the version you are entitled to. Click Downgrading to an Older Version for more information
How to turn off the auto-updater
If you don’t want to upgrade and are not under Software Assurance, please make sure to turn off the auto-updater so you won’t be repeatedly prompted to upgrade each time application opens. Instructions can be found here: How to turn off the auto-updater
