- We’ve been working on ApexSQL Audit 2015 R1 release. We’ve been addressing some performance, stability, and usability issues reported by our users, while also fixing issues noticed during testing.
Delta team update: ApexSQL Generate (new product)
What have you been working on?
- First we’ve published ApexSQL Script 2014 R2 maintenance release with fixed bugs.
- We’ve created mockups for ApexSQL Generate and the UI, and then we’ve started the process of implementing the functionality.
- Currently, this tool is on static test for its first release.
Steamroller team update: ApexSQL Backup (new product)
What have you been working on?
- We have been focused on a new product, ApexSQL Backup, for managing SQL Server backups, among other things. Our plan is to release an R1 in a few weeks. We’re wrapping up log shipping code, polishing wizards, doing final updates on installer package and working on general stability/bug-fixes

About ApexSQL Monitor: ApexSQL Monitor is a Windows and SQL Server monitoring tool with a wide range of monitored metrics. It tracks Windows, SQL Server instance, and database metrics on multiple local and remote machines and SQL Server instances. It monitors the most important SQL Server statistics, memory, buffer, and page metrics – batch requests per second, user connections, target and total server memory, buffer cache hit ratio, batch requests, page life expectancy, page reads and writes per second, and more. Monitoring these metrics enables you to identify and troubleshoot performance problems, establish trends, and set baselines.

ApexSQL Doc is a tool that is used for database development, like documenting various databases, SSIS packages and SSAS cubes. Nevertheless, ApexSQL Doc doesn’t support documenting packages from SSISDB catalog.
We are planning to implement it in an upcoming release though.

What is the performance impact of ApexSQL Audit?
In general, performance impact of ApexSQL Audit shouldn’t be significant in most production environments. It cases when heavy traffic servers are being audited for significant amount of different events, there can be significant performance impact when central instance of ApexSQL Audit is installed on a production server – the higher server activity, the larger impact. Installation of ApexSQL on a dedicated server/Virtual machine provides the full performance without any significant impact on the production database server. ApexSQL Audit process all the data processed by SQL Server itself plus the trace technology and additional internal data and communication impact. We can provide guidance on this as needed.
